Delighted Soul

Born in Maine and rooted in family, faith, and real-life experience, Delighted Soul is a powerful original music group blending heartfelt storytelling, rich harmonies, and uplifting messages of hope. Their sound was once described by Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary as “Folk and Roll”—a fitting name for music that combines folk honesty, rock energy, and spiritual depth.

What began with the musical journey of the McInnis brothers has grown into something even more special: a full band built on family bonds, shared purpose, and unforgettable harmony. With the addition of stunning female vocals and a six-member lineup, Delighted Soul has created a signature sound that is both timeless and fresh.

The group first gained regional recognition with their original holiday songs “Some Joy for Christmas” and “The Spirit of Our Tree,” which became the most requested songs on WABK in Gardiner and were played in rotation on more than 28 radio stations across Maine.

Today, Delighted Soul performs exclusively original music—songs inspired by life’s hardest battles and greatest victories. Their catalog reflects real experiences with addiction recovery, childhood trauma, broken relationships, redemption, faith, and healing. Every lyric is written with purpose: to encourage others, restore hope, and remind listeners that no matter where they’ve been, a better path is possible.

Meet the Band

Bruce McInnis Jr. – Songwriter, pianist, and creative force behind much of Delighted Soul’s music. A self-taught musician with more than 100 original songs, Bruce received the first-ever musical achievement award presented by music director Michael Kimball at his junior high school and even composed his school’s 8th grade graduation march. His passion for songwriting continues to shape the heart of the band.

James McInnis Sr. – Drummer, guitarist, vocalist, and lifelong performer. James began playing drums at age 12 and quickly discovered a natural gift for rhythm and musicianship. His dream has always been to perform, create music, and share it with audiences everywhere.

Debby McInnis – Harmony vocalist whose voice transformed the group’s sound. Once hesitant to sing publicly, Debby discovered a remarkable gift for harmony after learning Bruce’s songs by heart. Her unique vocal textures and emotional depth helped create the group’s signature three-part harmonies.
