“DELIGHTED SOUL”

“Folk and Roll” is the way Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary fame) described the music of the McInnis brothers back in their beginning days in Maine. The same brothers have now added a third harmony, a beautiful female harmony, to theirs. For many years they have added many original Gospel tunes praising God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Their first real taste of success came with the release of two holiday songs entitled “Some Joy for Christmas” and “The Spirit of our Tree”, which at the time were the most requested songs at WABK in Gardiner, Maine. It was also played in rotation on more than 28 radio stations throughout the state of Maine, which is the group’s home state.

​

“Delighted Soul” now performs exclusively their own original music, which is written and based on their past personal experiences in battling drug and alcohol addictions, child abuse, divorce, relationships and religion. Their sole purpose with their music is to promote faith in GOD and to help others heal from past experiences and to make better choices in their own life.

​

“Delighted Soul” now consists of 6 members, Bruce McInnis Jr., Debby McInnis and James McInnis Sr, Jake Maschino, Stephen Dowdy & James' son, Johnny McInnis. Bruce is a self-taught pianist who has written well over 100 songs. As a youngster, Bruce was awarded the first musical achievement award ever presented by the music director (Michael Kimball) at his Junior high school. He also wrote his 8th grade graduation march for that same school. In high school, Bruce and James formed a group called Black Magic, and received numerous musical awards.

James McInnis got his first set of drums when he was 12 and learned to play them almost instantly. He is also a self-taught guitarist who’s lifelong dream has been to play music, sing and tour the world as a musical artist.

 

Debby McInnis was the wallflower that never wanted to sing in front of anyone. She and Bruce are married and after listening to Bruce play his songs, she ended up learning them so well that Bruce asked her to join them. Debby has a talent for creating very beautiful and unique harmonies that have really enhanced the groups performances. Their 3-part harmonies are out of this world.

Jake Maschino joined the Army right out of high school and was injured serving in the Gulf War. jake started playing guitar at the age of 8 years old and switched to playing bass guitar when diagnosed with MS. Jake is married to his wonderful wife Linda, has 2 children and 3 grandchildren. A spiritual giant to boot!

Stephen Dowdy is a classically-trained drummer. Stephen is another very spiritual man with an interest in serving in whatever capacity he can.

​

Johnny McInnis, the son of James, is also a songwriter and guitarist that started his musical journey at our feet as a child. He has a passion for the music and will be a great asset to our mission!
